A couple of weeks ago a commenter mentioned a video showing children at SCOAN singing a song of praise to TB Joshua. Some disciples quickly denied that this ever happened, but another commenter had the video and kindly sent it in. Here is a clip of the “TB Joshua Worship Song”.

What about this is worship? If I may ask, What is ur definition of worship? What in the lyrics portray worship? If it is not a bad motive, what else could be behind what you are doing?
Motive: 1. To rescue people from falling into the trap of a spiritually toxic cult that often destroys relationships (including marriages), and leads people to further illness and even death because of false teachings.
2. To expose rampant lies with the light of Scripture.
3. To call to account a man who claims to speak for God but makes endless false claims and spews ridiculous, shameful heresies.

Solomon was indeed a woman-worshipper, to the extent that he sinned in a very big way.
One important difference though, Solomon never said or implied that the woman was equal to Jesus, a messiah, the greatest prophet ever, etc. IOW, if you ignore the spiritual layer, you have a love poem that’s more than a little bit sensuous.
Is that what you’re saying this hymn to TBJ is? Because that’s kind of…gross, actually.
Here’s an irony for you: SCOAN devotees constantly excuse TB Joshua’s failed prophecies with “Well, he’s not perfect! You want him to be perfect! He’s just human.”
Contrast that with the little children singing adoration of him “Everything about him is good.”

The other night it took me 5 minutes to expose a testimony posted on the SCOAN facebook page for yet another lie, a “miracle” not of God’s doing but composed of exaggeration, deception, and outright lying. All I did was apply some basic logical thinking, and follow the claims to see if they were verifiable. I will be happy to detail that for you if you wish, but most likely it would be a pointless exercise, because much larger lies have been exposed, only to be met with one excuse after another.

Gleady, yes TB Joshua is a human, like us all, who make misstakes. I gues every preacher makes misstakes in one or another way, because we are all in a growing-process with God. But how can you accept misstakes from a world-preacher in a measure that are not simple misstakes who can be repented, but character-faults on a level that can becalled a dis-order? Why should you defend a preacher as TB Joshua, who has realy bad character-issues to overcome? What if he deceives his members and disciples by his manners and system? If a husband is abusing his wife, should we not Judge? We DO Judge, and we will correct him and help his wife. We are christians. And so, if TB Joshua has serious troubled character-difficulties, as ; abuse, mis-use, manipulation, arrogance, pride, irresponsibility, humiliation, scorning, fictive testemonies, propaganda, controle, self-seeking honor, deceiving messages, doom-profhesies etc. etc. We have the pleight to warn him and his members for the consequenses of accepting such a leader as infallible and equiped for his task as an example for the new generation. If you have no problem with the wrongs in his behaviours , then this means you accept without any discernement his destructive actions. There is no biblical justification to ignore harmfull behaviours and only wanting to see the good of a person. It is un-wise and self-deception.

I tend to agree with your blogpost, except on one point.
There is a difference of people making mistakes and people who make mistakes and cover them up as if they are infallible and use others to defend their mistakes as not being perfect but still accept that TB Joshua is infallible of the claims that God speaks through him even up to the recent false prophecies. There are tons of those people. These are the people that benefit in supporting the lies he does in the Name of God. Scammers only repent when they are put in court and are threatened with jail sentence for their scamming. In any other setting they will continue the lies and keep scamming as long the money rolls in due to those lies and their 419 scams. I hope you agree with me.

Concerning the deliverance and questioning of demons “Circus” that goes on in SCOAN (thanks to Jesse for that word = “Circus”), here is an insightful interview with Roger Morneau about his encounter with the worship of spirits, talking to evil spirits and deliverance ministries.
Note: I am not recommending that anyone join the Seventh-Day Adventist church (they have some false dangerous doctrines of their own from Ellen G. White that they observe, so be careful) but listen to Roger Morneau’s experiences, you might learn a thing or two, especially at the end, from 2:50:47 of the video where he talks about deliverance ministries, casting out and talking to and/or questioning demons from his experience.
The end of the video explains how deliverance ministries and their believe that praying and calling on to Jesus Christ to save you on your own will NOT help you -unless you go to a church such as SCOAN- undermines the name of Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:9-11)and his finished work on the cross for all believers. TB Joshua himself believes that he alone has the power to totally “deliver” people more than other pastors, this is evidenced by the great glee you see him derive from “delivering” his fellow pastors and “men of God”, and how they run to his church for personal deliverance.
SCOAN teaches that you cannot protect yourself by calling on the Name of Jesus Christ on your own, or be totally delivered from a past life of sin by asking and praying to Jesus Christ alone, unless you are “delivered”- by them, that is, this teaching is of the devil and evil.

Believe me tbj has quasi Scriptural reasons for every scheme he has up his sleeves. He needs to be hung out to dry by a higher authority immediately.

Pray to the Lord Jesus Christ wherever you are and He will deliver you! You don’t have to go to TB Joshua, or such Satan controlled ministries like SCOAN to get your deliverance, or run to some “man of God” or “Wiseman” to do some hand movement, or do “break dance” on you before you can be delivered, or watch a TV station such as Emmanuel TV etc. to be delivered. You also don’t need to break your bank account, use up your family’s feeding money and buy “the latest edition” of some useless “anointing” water to be delivered.
Beloved, the NAME of JESUS CHRIST alone, called and invoked by faith by you in prayer is all you need for Jesus Christ to come to your rescue. This is TRUE scripture – Romans 10:13 (“For Whosever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved”).

It is true that tbj watches this blog like a hawk and then changes things in his church. I have noticed that too through the years. The problem is however that he has no heart change or conviction of his own sins and just adds this to streamline and promote his Babylonian ministry.
Secondly, I discovered that the instances in the Bible where the Lord used any medium to work through, was a once of thing, a personal thing and not a mass production of whatever. E.g. like the man at the water pool of Bethesda or Naäman at the river if water etc. The only thing that can be repeated is the oil then it is not ‘anointed’ oil, but oil used as a symbol of Jesus healing and that should be applied by the elders of a church who knows the state of the person.
It is NOT mass productions.

Have you forgotten that Christ has given us the ministry of reconciliation. We are expected to reconcile ALL men to God. Nobody is beyond God’s grace. Christ is the First Apostle and High Priest of our salvation. The Apostle Paul told the Corinthians that when they are assembled and he, Paul, is there with them in spirit and the Power of Christ is present they should hand over to Satan the immoral incestous brother (which can also apply to anyone in grave transgressions) for the destruction of his flesh in order that his soul may be saved on the Last Day. That a Christian gets taken out by the Spirit does not necessarily entail that he goes to hell or that he is no longer a Christian. This is why I preach caution while confronting anyone that calls himself/herself a Christian because I am not the one that called him/her you dig? Your suggestive recriminations that I sit on the fence are unfounded. I could very easily have become a scoanite myself when I was crazy for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit had I not had the good fortune of coming across this website. My heart bleeds for the masses of gullible, desperate, frustrated, brainwashed and overwhelmingly besotted devotees of this organization. Our Apostle, Jesus, once lamented how long he had alwayz wanted to gather his chicks under his wings yet they were not willing. He knew they were searching for Him-the Messiah, yet, they could not DISCERN the time of their visitation. Almost everyone in SCOAN is suspicious of tbj yet the cares and worries of this terrible worldly existence override their better judgment. Yet for me, I have got to have the POWER OF CHRIST IN ACTION IN MY LIFE for my faith to be established. Little wonder Paul said he did not want our faith to be founded on men’s wisdom, rather, on the Power of God. Proper Jew he was-was Paul. I am not surprised and I even to an extent understand, therefore, the great degree of angst directed towards this blog because people are in dire straits and will not countenance the suggestion that this their “messiah” ain’t the real deal. Someone has got to provide the alternative. Someone will now say to me that everyone should pray for himself/herself since whosoever calls upon the Name of the Lord will be saved. Yet you forget that Philip even after evangelising in the Power of the Spirit with myriad signs and wonders and also baptising the fresh converts in water, had not the ministry of imparting the Baptism of the Spirit but instead had to defer to Apostle Peter to come and lay hands on the fresh converts. How much more incredible would it then had been for the fresh converts to pray for the Baptism of the Spirit by themselves and for themselves?! There is a dearth of Apostles on earth and that is why Christendom has gone astray. Paul said to the Jews that he became like one of the Jews in order to save some of them. Ditto to the Gentiles. Now, in this present day scenario, I am willing to become as a SCOANITE in order that, somehow, I might save some of them. If that is what you meant when you suggested that I was sitting on the fence then, very well, so be it as long as it ends in me saving some of the sheeple and even tbj himself from himself. In war, it is a wrong move to back your enemy to the wall without giving him a sniff of a chance for escape. So The Lord will indeed deal with this, but He uses people to express that, because His people do not want to read His Word, so someone must step upon the plate and address this whether Apostle or Lay man. It does not matter. Titles means nothing. David was not a King yet and took on Goliath all by his own together with all that God is and was then backing him up. He came in the Name of The Lord. Anyone who has courage and believes on the Name of The Lord, will be more than a conqueror. Especially against liars and deceivers. vooke was convicted of his sins back in school. He went and had some believers pray for him. The next day I went to pray and I was praying in tongues. No much fanfare, no apostles in sight. If you look at the impartation/baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts, there is no specific formula. You can’t possibly argue that only the apostles had exclusive ‘right’ to do so. Constructing such a doctrine on the basis of one event against all of Acts is to me flawed.

Vooke, ; there is a difference between the Gifts of The Spirit, as speaking in tonques, Word of knowledge, profhesy, healing etc. and The Office of a called and ordained disciple, as a Profhet. ALL members can have the gifts in The Spirit, but not all are called to be an Apostle or Profhet. ALL believers can heal, and cast out demons, by Mark 16;17, but not all believers will have a profhetic mantle and commission. There is a difference to be a believer who lay hands by Faith, and a Profhet who lay hands by Faith and Power. by his calling. The anoitings are different., to accomplisch their jobs.

Philip the evangelist was one of the 7 stewards along with Stephen who the Apostles laid hands upon and commissioned to handle church administration and should not be mixed up with Apostle Philip who was one of the Twelve. Show me one example in the book of Acts where converts received the baptism of the Spirit without an Apostle being involved. Just one. Anyways I am not afraid of anything except the Lake of Fire and I maintain my stand that an Apostle is the only officer in the Body of Christ from my searching of the Scriptures to end this tbj issue permanently. Evidence Philip the evangelist and the apostle were one
1. It appears preposterous that we have a new believer with a similar name as an existing disciple and no distinction is made about who is whom. THere was ready distinction in Simon and James the Lord’s brother and the disciple.
2.Papias of Hierapolis speaks of Philip of Acts 21 as one of the apostles. That is a 2nd century writer, a man who interacted with some of the apostles.
3.Polycrates, a second-century bishop of Ephesus, says that Philip, “one of the Twelve”, was buried at Hierapolis along with two aged virgin daughters of his, and that a third daughter, a prophetess, was buried at Ephesus. It seems unlikely that two Philips would both have unmarried daughters of whom at least one was known as a prophetess.
4. Remember the 7 were chosen to deal with the problem of the helenists, Greek speaking Jews. Philip is a Greek name for ‘lover of horses’. Is it a coincidence that when a group of Greek speaking Jews went to Jesus in John 12:20,they first went to Philip? besides,in John 6:5, Philip was in charge of organizing how to feed the 5000. This Philip had a gift/skill in hospitality which may have made him suited for the temporary arrangement in Acts
besides, and I told you, I received the gift of the Spirit without no apostle in sight. Yes, it is true the man TBJ can be forgiven as there is no man that is beyond redemption as long as he or she is breathing on this earth; even the serial murderer can be forgiven. TBJ is so vested in his “business” where the product is the Name of Jesus Christ the LORD. When I referred to the verse of Joel 2:32, paraphrasing – that whoever that calls on the LORD shall be saved. This does not mean those that have not already heard about the LORD, or know him. We need Christian to teach these ones, the new converts as the people of Samaria in your point above about the LORD, who He is and what he requires of them and how to call upon him, before they can call upon him.

However, you are correct in that in the body of Christ, the “Church” (this is not a building or an organization) is made up of different people with different spiritual gifts – see 1 Corinthians 12:14-16, the body is not one member but many, the body of Christ, that is not your local “church” organization or association. In a true “church” no one is the leader over others, yes there might be varying degrees of spirituality but these are not to LORD it over the others. The one that helps in the kitchen or evangelizes is (as is Stephen the martyr is equally as important to the body of Christ as the one that prophesies, heals, teaches, etc. No one has the right to “Lord” it over the rest of the body of Christ by treating others as second class.
If you notice, Peter was not the leader of the “apostles” (we might go into this debate another time), nor did he exercise nay sort of leadership authority over any of them before or after Jesus Christ ascended. You did not see any of the other apostles or disciples calling Peter or any of the senior ones exalted names like “Senior Bishop” Peter, “Our Father in the Lord” Peter, “My Master” Peter or Paul, or John etc. worst of all “Pope” Peter or “Papa” Peter.
In fact, there was even a time Peter was acting in error contrary to the true gospel that Apostle Paul himself had to call him to order – you can read this in Galatians 2:11. Therefore, being member or tolerating a ministry where one man is leading, cannot be questioned, and is not held accountable for his action such as SCOAN is as dangerous as drinking a full cup poison.
Jesus Christ himself warned us against self-exultation and worship of man in His Body when he said:

I really like that one, “no-one” has the right to “Lord” over the rest of the Body of Christ and make them sitting ducks. Because that is what TB Joshua is doing and inside the branches. In the video you will see that before and after healing that the shifted kneecap is still as it is and he starts to walk, but later in the video you see he is wearing a shorts in where you can’t see his knee cap. To my opinion this man is not supernaturally healed but just used for this purpose to bring an entire stadium into a frenzy. Mind you I believe in supernatural healing but this is not one of them, it is a scam. Now I am going to say another thing. The Nigerian girls that are “kidnapped” are not kidnapped, it is a Nigerian scam to draw the eyes of the world towards them and nothing else. The “four” that escaped a few hours ago, refused to talk how they escaped. This is used to divert about certain things that is going on there. Ps. Just want to add. As I said you can walk without a patella (knee cap) the patella is only there for protection, but some people do find it hard to become stable thou if they have to have this removed, so thy would have to have a brace fitted which does the job too.

You are wrong. ALL the Apostles remained in Jerusalem. The rest of the Church were SCATTERED! ACTS 8: 1. There were no Apostles in Samaria in this particular event. It was Evangelist Philip, one of the 7 Stewards who was led by the Spirit in the Dispersal to the Samaritans. When you say that the Apostles “sent for Peter and John” what you are inferring is that some or all the Apostles were in Samaria!!! This is a false understanding of this very clear Scriptural passage! I also read The King James Version. Apostles are the ONLY officers in the Church sanctioned to impart the Baptism of the Spirit on Christians! Take the Word of God literally and not figuratively brethren!

Jesus is the only one that can baptize you in His Holy Spirit, with or without anyone praying for you. You can ask Him directly for that, provided that you obey the Lord.
The Bible says;
… “ the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him” – Acts 5:32
“I baptize you with water for repentance”, John said. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He (Jesus) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire” – Mathew 3:11.
“I baptize you with water, but he (Jesus) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” – Mark 1:8.
Then Peter said unto them, “Repent and be baptized in water every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” – Acts 2:38
No apostles needed for this.

The Old Testament (Tenach) is wrongly translated as Testament. It should be Covenant or older Covenant. It is the Covenant between a loving God and his people. So it is a Covenant. The New Testament should then also be translated as the New Covenant. “New “ is also a wrong translation and should be translated as the “Renewed” Covenant. So the Renewed Covenant (New Testament) is NOT separate from the Old Covenant. It is the old sacrificial system just renewed in Jesus. Jesus has finished of the old sacrifitial system and became the Lamb of God, who was sacrificed to take away the sins of the world, once and for all. So the sacrificial offering has stopped, but the Ten Commandment not. Jesus said, “Keep my Commandments” …… “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”…….etc. etc. – Mathew 28:20.
So nothing has changed because,
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever “– Hebrews 13:8.
…. “for our God is a consuming fire….” – Hebrews 12:29.
…. “God is spirit….” – John 4:24.
…. “God is love….” -1 John 4:8.

Again it is the same pattern as in the Tenach. The true FIRE fell on the disciples and they were baptized in the Holy Spirit.

First and obvious example. Pentecost. 120 disciples were not apostles. More importantly is that you are arguing from silence. You don’t have ALL instances of infilling of the Holy Spirit and you have verses that are silent on this issue such as Acts 13:52. Of course Christ is the one who baptises in the Holy Spirit. John the Baptist baptised in water. Presently both these men are no longer physically on Earth. Hence needs must that their jobs be carried out by others. Show me just ONE example in the Bible were Christians were baptised in the Holy Spirit without an Apostle being involved. Just one. Even in secular Law, precedents are paramount. Show me a precedent of Christians being baptized in the Holy Spirit by other Christians who are not described as being Apostles? No you cannot. There are 3 instances where believers received the Gift while the apostles were present. Those can’t possibly be the ONLY instances where believers received the Spirit. You are building your false doctrine on these 3 by ASSUMING that in every other instance, the apostles must have been present. Let’s test your theory. Read carefully Acts 9. Ananias was sent to lay hands on Paul so he may receive his sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit (v17) Was Ananias an apostle? 😉
Remember from Galatians 1:18, Paul went up to Jerusalem 3 years after his conversion. According to you, his first 3 years of ministry were without the Baptism until he met the first apostle since his conversion,Peter in Jerusalem
Acts 1:15-26 especially v 22,25 and 26. The primary job of the apostles was to witness Jesus resurrection. We have their witness in the New Testament. What job would the apostles be doing in the 2nd to 21st century? The Bible tells us in Hebrews 3:1 that Jesus is the First Apostle and High Priest of our salvation.
In John 20:19-23 we see the first instance of the Baptism of the Spirit carried out by Jesus himself on his disciples (who were later called Apostles) in the locked up room. Observe how Christ tells them that anyone THEY forgive is forgiven. This was an authority previously held solely by Christ our First Apostle. This authority does not belong to every Christian. It is the exclusive preserve of Apostles. Apostles, therefore, act directly in Christ’s stead in ALL matters concerning His Bride. As I said previously, you must receive your Apostleship Commission DIRECTLY from Christ face to face as Apostle Paul did on the Road to Damascus. Others with Paul only heard the Sound and fled into the bushes in terror but ONLY Paul SAW Christ. Christ can still choose to appear to anyone He wishes today and commission the person as an Apostle. brb.

Everything we see is by self appointment and as indeed Vooke says, what proof is there that Jesus appeared to anyone who claims they are now apostles. When I was very sick many years ago Jesus appeared to me at some point at the foot of my bedside and I was healed. But I am not going to Trumpetblast as you do now that I am an Apostle. In the ministry I used to be before it was very easy to knock people over and let them squirm or laugh hysterically on the ground and let them roll over the floor back to front. Anyone could do it and many did. But now what ? Manifestation means nothing. Being saved means everything. Spray, knock, splash, roll, declare free, even pray over someone, in a sort of spiritual spasm means to me not Salvation. If you think those modern day prophets and self appointed apostles are the key to that, I am telling you now, you not only deceive yourself, but also your listeners and observers. Over to you !
You are right in saying that the 120 weren’t all Apostles. John 20 tells us how Christ officially made the Twelve become Apostles and no longer just disciples. He said to them that as the Father has sent me so send I you. This now made the Apostles equal in Apostleship with Christ. I am not saying the Apostles are Christs. Don’t get it twisted. On the Pentecost Day, the Holy Spirit came on the Disciples ot which the Twelve were a part of. The Twelve had already received their Apostleship. in John 20. In Acts13:52, Paul and Barnabas had already done the Spirit’s baptism on the converts as they normally did. We have no reason to believe they would do otherwise. in this case. Christ can STILL decide to appear to anyone TODAY and anoint the person as an Apostle. Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever. Wake up bro.

What Jesus can do is totally irrelevant. He can come down and preach again before returning to judge! He can make rocks and donkeys preach. What you are trying to propagate is no different from Jehovah’s Witnesses and their WatchTower Society. They claim there has been a line of witnesses from Jesus to today. Pressed to explain who were the witnessed before the Society was founded they can’t point out. Your doctrine claims there MUST have been apostles in every generation of believers since first century to 21st century. If there was a break,the Christians would not receive Baptism of the Spirit. Either that or the Baptism of the Spirit stopped at some point when the apostles were no more.
This doctrine is used by modern day Cultic churches which then teach that they are apostles, a unique brand of believers with super abilities. Question is,who were the apostles of 20th century? What about 19th,17th- 2nd century? And how is a non-Spirit baptized believer supposed to ID these ‘special’ Christians with ‘theophanic’ encounters with the Risen Christ?
Once again look at Paul’s conversion in Acts 9. The risen Christ assigned a ‘mere’ disciple, Ananias to lay hands on him so he may receive sight and the Holy Spirit. From Galatians 1:18, Paul’s first encounter with an apostle happened 3 years after conversion. And don’t even try to suggest that he got filled the moment he was converted. This is proven by Ananias’ assignment by Christ in Acts 9:17

He was not taught by any man or received instruction from the Apostles. He was taught personally by revelation from Christ himself. The lesser is blessed by the greater. How then can Ananias, a disciple, anoint Paul as an Apostle if not that he was acting as a proxy for Christ? Apostles have all the gifts of the Spirit bar none. Do you have ALL the gifts of the Spirit? You typically regress to abject cynicism once your arguments are shot down much like most scoanites do on this website. You refused to admit that Evangelist Philip could not have been Apostle Philip since he could not baptise the recent converts in the Spirit. Even when shown that the Apostles remained in Jerusalem during the Dispersal, you insist that it was only Apostle Philip that journeyed to Samaria on evangelism. About Philip, I have given you facts and history. If 2nd century believers thought he was one and the same person, what special revelation do you have to point that they are not? When John the Baptist told Jesus that he was not worthy of baptizing Him Christ didn’t tell John that he was wrong. He told John that he was permitted to do so for that UNIQUE instance in order for them both to fulfill all righteousness. Matthew 3:13-17. Christ can digress from the hierarchical order of things in certain unique cases and make the improper proper in order to achieve His objectives. That does not mean we should discard our hierarchical structure in the Church altogether. Why did Christ not just baptize Himself since He is greater than John the Baptist?

It was not three years with Paul. I was a total of nearly 17 years, in where two occasions (stoning) when he wanted to get out as a preacher to the masses because he taught he was ready to march for God he was nearly killed by those he encountered while doing that. Paul’s convictions were so ingrained in him by theological errors it took that long to beat that out of him, by the Holy Spirit and his personal teachers. If you are telling something concerning history, then do your homework first. In any other case you will be found telling heresies.

You stroll up to a nearby river, dive in and Voila! you are Water-Baptized. There is a hierarchy in the Body of Christ. Apostles first. Then Prophets. Then Teachers. And so on. The Apostles are at the top of the food chain. The absence of the BOHS today is the reason fir the POWERLESS Church we have today and the reason why manipulators such as tbj are running amok and causing havoc in the Body of Christ. It is also why most Christians are on their knees and grovel at the feet of tbj and his like as they desperately seek for some crumbs of his “power” from his table. The point is whether one Can ONLY receive BOHS through apostles or not. You insist they must. I have no problem with that except it is a figment of your imagination. Again your theory demands a continuous chain of apostles through the 21 centuries. How many apostles does the present body of Christ need to ensure no believer misses their special BOHS powers? How can we identify modern apostles? How do we distinguish them from the average Christians?
Believers prayed for me,students and I received Christ. The next day I received the baptism and I prayed in tongues
And for the record, I was not taught any of these teachings of mine by anyone. I read the New Testament from a literal point of view and not from a figurative perspective as most Christians are prone to do once I converted to Christianity. The New Testament is infinitely easier to understand than the Torah once you take it literally. Jesus simplified everything. Don’t over-complicate the simplicity we should enjoy in Christ.

If we can’t use Paul, why would we use 3 instances of the apostles presence during the baptism of the Spirit to invent a doctrine? I have been saying that we should not build doctrine around isolated events in Acts. For instance, they cast lots to get Judas replacement. How many believers cast lots today to appoint leaders? They used to go to the synagogue at 1500H to pray. Is that a rule? They used to sell all and eat together. Do you advocate that?
The most tragic and inevitable conclusion of your theory is that believers can never enjoy BOHS without apostles. A believer has no means of ID-ing apostles and has to trust somebody is enough of an apostle to get them this gift. Your doctrine creates a barrier between man and God; another man. I can’t recall the many times I have laid hands on students and they received the baptism of the Spirit. And am no apostle. In fact, i haven’t spoken in tongues in almost 20 years. Why am I still responding to you? Well for the benefit of people following our debate, I will attempt to clarify a few things. Why is nobody able to explain the reason why the BOHS could not be imparted by Evangelist Philip? He performed myriad miracles yet he couldn’t BOHS the brethren? How many Christians today can claim to perform the astonishing miracles that Philip did? And you think that there is a Christian alive who can outperform Philip and baptize converts in the Spirit? Where in the Bible is it recorded that Christians got BOHS on their own without the presence of an Apostle? Ananias was also sent by Jesus, who appeared to him by the way, on an assignment and can also be said to be an Apostle as well though it was not recorded. I said that an Apostle is a person that has had Jesus appear to him and send him on mission. I didn’t want to go as far as calling Ananias an Apostle because it was not clearly written down and you are an unbelievable naysayer. How many people can honestly claim that Jesus has appeared to them and sent them on a mission. The gospel did not originate with you and you are not the only ones it has reached. Philip is not negligent to not have BOHS the converts if he could. So finally I maintain my stand that only Apostles can BOHS believers. QED.

I don’t know which Christians ‘fast and pray endlessly’, I know I never did that to receive BOHS. I also know some believers miss out on the baptism because like Apollos they don’t understand it as such. But that is besides the point. Share with us a list of apostles so we can connect to them and receive this Gift. Or aren’t you interested in us receiving it? 😉
The BOHS in the Bible is described as the Bread the Father gives to His children. Christ said that if we who are evil know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more will the Holy Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask it of Him. Peter told his listeners to Repent and be baptized so that they could receive the BOHS. He never told anyone to fast and pray for this. We do not even know how to fast and pray rather it is the Spirit that intercedes for us with GROANS that words cannot express. How then do folks think they can achieve this by their own power? Christ after being baptized by John then received the BOHS directly from heaven as a dove. He needed the BOHS before he could head into the Wilderness for 40 days fasting. Nowadays, Christians want to go into the Wilderness for 40 days BEFORE they are BOHS. This is UNSCRIPTURAL!!! There is no Christian that operated without the BOHS in the entire Bible. Why then is it the norm these days? Stop deceiving the Body of Christ, we cannot continue in this charade any longer. Things must be followed as it is written in the Bible even if it involves the Sharing of ALL Christians have in common, then so be it. There was no instruction in the Bible that after some centuries that standards could be allowed to slip. Please study Cornelius in Acts 10 especially verse 44
“44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. ”
A few things, it was not until Peter spoke that the Holy Spirit came on them, That is the KEY; The WORD. It means nobody receives this baptism without receiving the Word. To back this, look at Acts 19:1-5, we had new converts who had not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We are told the reason was they had not HEARD-V2 about this. When they HEARD about it in v5-6, they received. So the KEY again is the Word. For this reason I can conjecture in Acts 8 that the disciples whom Philip converted and had not received the Spirit had not HEARD about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This understanding of why they had not received this Gift despite being converted makes more sense than alleging that the ‘right’ people, the apostles had not laid hands on them.
Please note,if any believer needs a ‘special’ believer, an apostle to lay hands on them so they may receive baptism, it means in absence of that person, they will never receive God’s free gift. They may have the scriptures with them, they may meditate day and night, do all things Christians do, but they will NEVER receive the Holy Spirit because there are no apostles in sight. What kind of doctrine is that? That teaching is basically taking the body of Christ to John 5:7 position of helplessness; that there is no man to put us in the pool. Hearing the word is not enough, praying is not enough, YOU NEED APOSTLES!

The major problem I have with Modern Christianity is that most Christians are cool with the dearth of the Power of GOD yet they refuse to give that same condescending attitude to the Devil-Satan. Why does the Body of Christ today believe that we can stand up to him in this near powerless condition we find ourselves today? What did Christ mean when He said to the Eleven in John 20 that whoever they forgave their sins were forgiven and whoever they did not forgive their sins remains unforgiven? Or do you think that Christ was talking to every Christian when He said that? You and me to be specific? No ******* way! If that were so, then I can assure you that virtually no-one would make heaven because we would all **** one another up BIGTIME due to our fleshly natures. The steps required for the BOHS are as follows; repentance first (compulsory), then water baptism or Spirit baptism in no rigid order. If you are repentant and yet someone hypothetically refuses to permit your sins to be forgiven you, how then are you gonna get to the next two stages? This is not presuming that such could or had actually happened before yet it was theoretically possible. The Apostles had such HUGE influence on the Early Church that Paul even stated that they were the Foundation of the Church with Christ as the cornerstone. The signs that follow an Apostle are great miracles, signs and wonders performed with great perseverance. You cannot miss them. Apostle means messenger and they are people to whom Christ has appeared to and given a mission. Do not be afraid of anyone telling you that it’s kjv or nothing. It’s actually good to have as many versions of the Bible as possible. I read kjv myself though my preferred version is niv. There is no Scriptural evidence to be afraid of reading as many versions as possible though any contentious passage should be checked up with the original language authorities ASAP. That is how I go. NASB Bible Translator Says, “I’m In Trouble With The Lord.”
Dr. Frank Logsdon, member of the translation committee for the New American Standard Version (NASB), has denounced his work on that Bible and urged all Christians to return to the Authorized Version, commonly known as the King James Bible.
Although the most popular translation at the present time is the New International Version, both of these modern Bibles are based upon the same Catholic text, and Logsdon’s concerns apply to both. Being involved with the project from the very beginning, Logsdon helped publisher F. Dewey Lockman with the feasibility study that led to the translation. He interviewed some of the translators, sat with them, and even wrote the preface. But soon the questions began coming in.
His old friend, Dr. David Otis Fuller, began to put his finger on the many shortcomings of the Catholic text used in all modern Bibles, which include the NASB and today’s NIV. Logsdon finally said, “I’m in trouble; I can’t refute these arguments; it’s wrong; it’s terribly wrong; it’s frightfully wrong; and what am I going to do about it?” Logsdon shocked publisher Dewey Lockman by writing, “I must under God renounce every attachment to the New American Standard.” Logsdon then began to travel extensively, trying to make up for his error by explaining to people the very simple reasons why the Authorized Version is the one Bible which is absolutely 100% correct.
Along with many other scholars, Logsdon had blindly accepted the basic argument used today to support the use of the two Catholic manuscripts, the Vaticanus and the Sinaiticus, in all modern Bibles. The “experts” claim that these are the oldest manuscripts in existence, so they must be the best! In one of his many public speeches, Logsdon explained, “When there is an omission that might be observed, they put in the margin,”Not in the oldest manuscripts.” But they don’t tell you what those oldest manuscripts are. What oldest manuscripts? Or they say,” Not in the best manuscripts.” What are the best manuscripts? They don’t tell you. You see how subtle that is? The average man sees a little note in the margin which says ” in the better manuscripts” and he takes for granted they are scholars and they must know, and then he goes on. That’s how easily one can be deceived.”
Brook Foss Westcot’s work has done much of the damage that is responsible for the corrupt bible translations we have today.
It was only after Logsdon took the time to really look into this issue that he was horrified to see that he had played right into Satan’s hands, and helped to take many verses out of the Scriptures. Logsdon admitted, “The deletions are absolutely frightening.” The huge number of English Bible translations currently available has produced untold millions of dollars in sales, but does anyone believe that they have produced a modern Church which is more knowledgeable about their Bible? No, it has produced the Siamese twins of confusion and falling away from truth. All modern Bible translators today use, without question, the New Testament text produced by the famous scholars Hort and Westcott.
How anyone can believe TB Joshua and Wisemen after reading this, WHO CLAIM TO SPEAK BY THE HOLY SPIRIT AND DIRECT TO GOD AND FROM GOD BY PROPHECY and cannot read the erratic translation OF THEIR NIV’s of their claimed their personal infilling of the Holy Spirit who was at the beginning present at the creation of this world and knows all things. “You have an unction of the Holy Spirit and know ALL THINGS” How can you even believe that they are sent by God ? Actually my bigger problem is with the belief/doctrine that ONLY apostles, believers meeting this @daemondada’s rigorous requirements “Theophanic Revelation of Christ as the first requirement to be an Apostle. You must have a face to face encounter with Christ and be given your commission DIRECTLY by Christ ” can help you with baptism of the Holy Spirit.
I find no basis for such conclusions from any scriptures. Furthermore,from Acts 1, apostles had one purpose; witnessing the resurrection of Christ, the bedrock of Christianity. And they had to have walked with Christ for all of his earthly ministry. This appears to be a temporary Office dispensed with once we had the witness in the full canon of New Testament.
Say a Togolese man having a vision of the resurrected Christ today. He is less likely to have any significant impact on propagation of Christianity in 2014 AD. The man’s faith and joy from the vision will probably be lifted beyond measure, but nothing more can come out of it. He may go out preaching but I can assure you it is the WORD, scriptures that really transform lives not testimonies of his visions. But in 35 AD where belief in resurrection occasioned lynching, the encounter with the Risen Christ really boosted their faith. Bottomline is if we had apostles today, I doubt they would meet the criteria set out in Acts 1. And I find it unnecessary
Supposing we still have modern apostles who meet @daemondada’s criteria and ONLY through whom the believers can receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. How are we supposed to ID them? I can’t use discernment because I don’t have the BOHS yet. The first century apostles knew each other since they followed Christ for 3 years. That’s why they resisted Paul at first. What about us? All we have are scriptures and instincts. How do we authenticate their “Theophanic Revelation of Christ” claims?
I have an idea. Since ONLY apostles can confer BOHS, what about watching believers laying hands to see if somebody will receive the baptism? I mean we experiment. Have say 20 ministers laying hands on me and when I receive the BOHS, I will know that is an apostle. But I have receive terrible things by the time I get to the 20th I don’t think that is sensible. As I replied to Dada to look at 1 Corinthians 12. It does not say there that those gifts ARE GIVEN through an Apostle. It is written there that the Holy Spirit does it as HE WILLS. Which in turn collapses Dada’s claim that we must be receiving gifts as well baptism of the Holy Ghost through an Apostle. This is to my opinion to claim that IF the manifestations that are taking place in SCOAN are NOT from the Holy Spirit, simply because we are being told that this only could or should take place through the so called Apostle TB Joshua and Wiseman which is not verifiable in any way or form, since anyone can claim they have seen Jesus and therefore are now classified as Apostles in Dada’s heresies. This is bondage instead of being free to be used by God as He wants us to be. The NIV omits, has still errors in its translation. How can you read the Gospel or preach the Gospel if things are missing or are downright errors in translation.
TB Joshua, Wisemen and the nearly the entire SCOAN uses the NIV only. You only have to ask why, because the NIV DENIES the Deity of Jesus Christ. How funny that if SCOAN uses the NIV whichbdenies the Deity of Jesus, declares TB Joshua as “The messiah of our time” and how you can’t be as a Christian or Follower of Jesus Christ not become furious about such heresy is beyond me.
I myself had a Thomson Chain Reference Bible in the NIV version. After figuring out it had thousands of errors and missing words and quite a lot Scriptures missing. I dropped it and stopped using it. Even to know that Mark 16 is put in the footnotes in the original NIV translation, it becomes even more hilarious that SCOAN is nearly all based upon “driving out and interrogating demons” is than beyond me how they can get the Scriptural mandate to do such things.

My sincere profuse apologies to @daemondada and @Angelica for this mix-up. It was purely unintentional. It is just that endorsing KJV in one sentence and saying almost opposite of that a few lines later is contradictory. If you are an adolescent or a baby Christian or one who is an English learner, it is acceptable to read other easier bible version such “Revised Standard Version (RSV)”, but when you have started eating the “meat” of the Word and not drinking “milk”, and you really want to go in to exegesis of explaining the Word of God or simply meditating on it for your own personal spiritual growth, the King James Version is your best bet. I do not recommend you giving a KJV version to a 7 year old, though but I will NEVER recommend you giving anyone an NIV; therefore, if I quoted anything other than KJV, I must have used it trying to be more explicit in my writing. So, pls do not run with it – that I quoted a version other than the original KJV.
The NIV (particularly this translation) is a demonic bible translation, period – quote me. NIV denies the deity of Jesus Christ and the power in the Blood of the LORD Jesus Christ. This is evil.
Please, I will not go into any unnecessary long argument with anyone about this, just ask the LORD to open your eyes in prayer to see what I mean. Also, buy the two bible versions and compare.
