TB Joshua loves Boko Haram

TB Joshua is as happy as a kid in a candy store right now. As Boko Haram commits deplorable act after deplorable act as a way of drawing attention to their ideology, TB Joshua piggy backs on these deplorable acts in order to draw attention to himself (let’s face it, TB Joshua’s ideology is TB Joshua).

Look at the following list of shocking exploitation of this national tragedy.

  1. Setting up an obviously fake stunt* where a “Boko Haram member who has come to bomb SCOAN” gets delivered by TB Joshua.
  2. Exploiting the 14th April Abuja bombing by claiming he predicted it, editing out the part in the original video where he claims it will happen before the middle of December 2013.
  3. Marketing his blasphemous anointed water in the aftermath of the bombing (a man confidently reads from a script testifying how his car was blown up in the bomb killing all except him, his demeanor gives no hint that a few days before he was supposedly surrounded by dead and dismembered bodies).
  4. Exploiting the 1st May Abuja bombing, again releasing an edited video claiming he predicted it.
  5. Exploiting the appalling kidnapping of over 200 schoolgirls by repeating news commentary dressed up as prophecy.
  6. Raising the hopes of the schoolgirls parents by assuring them that “unless I’m not called by God, I place my career and my calling on the line, that this 200+ schoolchildren have to be released immediately.” on the 3rd May.
  7. Performing a second fake “Boko Haram member captured and delivered at SCOAN” stunt.

TB Joshua claims to be a powerful prophet who has predicted all kinds of international events. Why is it he can’t locate the school girls? Maybe the authorities wouldn’t have taken the advice of a Nigerian prophet seriously in the Malaysian airlines crisis, but in Nigeria everyone would sit up and listen if he revealed their location. TB Joshua claims his anointed water protects you from fire and bullets, casts out demons and diseases. Why can’t it deliver schoolgirls from captivity?

What we’ve seen with both the MH370 disaster and the Boko Haram crisis is that TB Joshua’s so called “prophetic ministry” is no help at all in a complex situation. If there is a simple and contained crisis like a shooting in America, he can easily deliver an edited prophecy claiming he predicted it. When a situation gets complex and when someone with genuine insight could actually be of real help, TB Joshua falls way off the mark.

One thing to remember here is TB Joshua’s own words “unless I’m not called by God, I place my career and my calling on the line, that this 200+ schoolchildren have to be released immediately.” This was said 10 days ago and counting. Everyday his credibility is fading.

Pray for these poor schoolgirls and their parents. It’s impossible to understand what they’re going through, but God knows. Trust that they will find comfort and the girls will know freedom. Pray that both Boko Haram and TB Joshua will repent of their evil schemes and find salvation through the cross of Jesus Christ.

* Before anyone points it out, we’re aware that TB Joshua has now claimed that the first Boko Haram member captured at SCOAN is now in police custody and has been confirmed as a genuine member, but please remember TB Joshua is the only source of this information, and he’s not exactly known for his honesty. The only semi-official response from the authorities dismissed the whole event as fake.

Another bomb in Abuja, another edited prophecy

On Thursday the 1st May, Boko Haram struck again with a devastating car bomb in Nigeria’s capital, killing 19 people. This comes only 2 weeks after the previous Abuja attack. Rather than providing spiritual and moral support to the victims, TB Joshua exploited the first bombing to promote his prophetic “gift” and tout his blasphemous anointed water. With the second one, with astonishing insensitivity, TB Joshua again claims to have predicted it. In a video released shortly after the bombing, “Wiseman” Racine brings a message from the “man of God”. The message was: “Thursday, people should be in an attitude of prayer for the nation that whatever was going to happen, God would avert it”. Thanks to revel2123 on youtube, we have the original, unedited clip, in it he says (bold highlights denotes what was edited out): “this coming Thursday and Friday, people should be in an attitude of prayer for the nation that whatever was going to happen on Friday, God would avert it”

This prophecy was dated the 20th April, which means the Friday this unspecified event was to take place was the 25th April. The event they now claim he was talking about happened on Thursday the 1st May.

This prophecy was a failure not only because he got the week and day of week wrong (not to mention the fact he didn’t even specify what would happen), it was a failure because it didn’t cause anything to be averted. The crazy thing is, nothing of note happened in Nigeria on the 25th April, so after that he could have claimed his prophetic word was a success, God averted the disaster thanks to his call to prayer. But this shows he’s not interested in averting disasters, all he’s interested in is his (fast eroding) reputation as an international fortune teller.

SHOCKING! TB Joshua lied about his Abuja bomb prediction

On Monday the 14th April, dozens, if not hundreds of people lost their lives in a massive bomb attack in Nigeria’s capital Abuja. For most pastors and religious leaders, this is a time of mourning. A time to reach out the bereaved to comfort them and pray for them. Not so TB Joshua. For TB Joshua, even a tragedy on his own doorstep is fair game for exploitation. Hours after this horrific attack, SCOAN edit together a video proudly claiming that TB Joshua had predicted it. In the video he claims (to audible gasps of horror): Listen to me, my people in Nigeria. Once again, take note of this: Our security should be vigilant. I am seeing a very big strike — explosion. They should take care of Abuja — capital.”

We have managed to track down the unedited version of this prophecy, given on the 10th November 2013. As usual, a critical aspect of the prophecy has been edited out (see the bold text).

Listen to me, my people in Nigeria. Once again, take note of this: Our security should be vigilant. I am seeing a very big strike — explosion. Towards the end of this month, or the middle of next month they should take care of Abuja, capital.

Based on this, the bomb was meant to happen towards the end of November and the middle of December. It happened on the 14th April.

But he predicted a bombing in Abuja, and one happened! Isn’t that enough?

No! Prophecies are words from the all knowing, all powerful, omnipresent, omniscient God. Real prophecies are not 5 months wrong with their dates. Real prophecies glorify God, not the prophet. Real prophecies bring people to repentance. TB Joshua’s prophecy does none of this, and due to the current situation in Nigeria it was certain to “come true” given enough time. This “prophecy” was given on November the 10th. Just one day before on November the 9th, Reuters reported that “Intelligence available indicates that the terrorists were in the process of finalizing plans to carry out simultaneous suicide attacks in Abuja and Kano” (source). As usual, all TB Joshua was doing was reporting the news, dressed up as prophecy.

It’s time Nigerians stop standing for this nonsense. This man is making a mockery of a national tragedy and exploiting it for his own gain. As Deuteronomy 18:22 says If the prophet speaks in the LORD’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the LORD did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared“. TB Joshua does not need to be feared, he needs exposing.
