TB Joshua has just released version 3.0 of his anointed water packaging. The packaging for anointed water 2.0 boldly claimed that it was “for the salvation of your soul“. Presumably since the release of 2.0 someone explained to TB Joshua that only the blood of Jesus could provide salvation, so incredibly for version 3.0 he labels his anointed water “the blood of Jesus“. You can’t make this stuff up.
Sadly, all the hysteria about the new, upgraded anointed water packaging turned to tragedy on Sunday when a stampede happened at SCOAN Ghana. 4 people were killed and many others injured, according to a police officer at the scene “15 people who were seriously injured, some with broken limbs, many others collapsed but were resuscitated.” (source)
An example of the confusion the anointed water causes
This crush happened because desperate people sincerely believed that the solution to their problems lay in a little bottle of water. Why do they believe this? Because TB Joshua has told them. In a video accompanying the release of the new packaging TB Joshua claims that the water is the solution to your business problems, marital issues, financial constraints, sicknesses and other such issues.
Is there a biblical basis for these claims?
The SCOAN website says there is:
Throughout the Scriptures, we see clear proof that God can use any medium to express Himself:
- In Acts 19:11-12, God used the medium of Paul’s handkerchief and aprons to heal the sick.
- In Exodus 14:16, God used the medium of Moses’ staff to split the Red Sea.
- In Acts 3:6, God used the voice of His servants, Peter and John to raise a crippled man.
- In 2 Kings 5:14, God used the medium of a dirty river to heal Namaan.
- In Acts 2:1-2, God expressed Himself through the medium of sound at the time of Pentecost
- In 1 Samuel 17:49, God used David’s catapult to defeat the giant Goliath.
- In John 9:6-7, Jesus used mud and saliva to heal a blind man.
- In Acts 4:15-16, God used the medium of Peter’s shadow to heal the sick.
But did David start producing anointed catapults? Did Peter start renting out his shadow? Did some enterprising disciple start distributing anointed mud and saliva? No! God spontaneously used these mediums to express himself, but there is zero evidence of a particular medium ever becoming a pattern.
This anointed water is billed as TB Joshua’s anointed water. People believe it is through this medium their breakthrough will come because the water “connects” them to TB Joshua and his anointing. This is has nothing to do with the Christian faith. Christians believe that all mankind is fallen and needs redemption through the blood of Jesus, but that redemption is available to all directly – no man of God, priest or intercessor required.
Perhaps, like Peters miraculous escape from prison God will also miraculously grant you breakthrough in an area of suffering, or maybe like James (who was execulted) your breakthrough will come beyond the grave. Maybe your healing will come instantly, or maybe like the great Apostle Paul you will be tormented in your weakness, but through it you will learn that His grace is sufficient for you, His power is made perfect in weakness (2 Cor 12:9).
Four people are dead because they desperately wanted this anointed water. Many others are alleged to have died after naively putting their trust in a little bottle of tap water instead of the medication trained doctors had prescribed.
Don’t put your hope in this water, don’t put your hope in a man who sets himself up as a false christ. We encourage you to pray for those who have lost loved ones, and pray that this deception ends swiftly.
If you’re still not convinced, ask yourself the following questions:

Please let’s not get into Catholicism and other denominations here, but suffice it to say that the Catholic church did not give us the Bible. The Word of God is established forever, long before the Catholic church. Psalm 119:89. God gave us His Word through holy men and prophets of old, long before the Catholic church. 2 Tim 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21. The Old Testament in Hebrew(Torah) and Septuagint(Greek) was already in existence before the Catholic church. The Bible is not a Catholic book, or else how do Catholics explain:

This incident is a clear indication of people’s reliance on the anointing water instead of Jesus Christ. If one truly believes in Jesus, I mean if they really knew who Jesus Christ really is (John 14:6, 1John 5:12, John 1:4, John 6:51, John 6:33, John 6:68, John 11:25-26, John 17:3) then everything else becomes insignificant. It is clear that the belief of the people involved is that their lives, their souls depend on the anointing water instead of on what Jesus went through at his crucifixion for mankind.
A few points need to be noted;
1) It was TB Joshua who called upon people to congregate in the Ghana branch for the distribution of this water and this was not only done in Ghana but also in Kenya and Tanzania. The additional plan was to send some of his wisemen on Sunday 19th to Ghana and Cameroon to fulfill accomplish the plan. In fact he made the announcement prior to the the latest tragedy .
2) The water was supposed to be special in a sense that it was meant to make people who used it rich. It was also supposed to kill those who took more than one bottle or those who did not follow the rules- all this is in his videos of tha last two Saturdays and Sundays prior to the incident.

You’re right – Oil is the only element commonly used in healing in the new testament, but even with that – it was just oil, not Senior Chief Apostle Paul’s anointed oil™. Something like that would make Paul the focus, not Jesus – just as this magic water makes TB Joshua the focus rather than Jesus.

Is that true that SCOAN London is no more? Someone I know said he had been to a healing meeting there and I got the impression it was relatively recently – since Xmas anyway. But I may well be wrong.
What we’ve been told us that it no longer exists as a church, and all the team have been sent back to Lagos, but they are still doing monthly prayer line meetings. That could be what your friend went to.

Heavenly Father..forgive us for our ignorance. All I can say if this does not open peoples eyes what will. Where the spirit of God is there is liberty…I do not believe that anything ordained by God can bring death and calamity esp if it is intended to bring deliverance.
I visited scoan by invitation I went there because I have a condition which I have to depend on medication. I had so much faith in the anointing water -that the power of Jesus is in it to heal- I collected 3 bottles of healing and deliverance (@ that time in 2011) I used up all these bottles as instructed with prayer…I stopped my meds for a few weeks..went fo examinations I was not healed. Then the voice of God said my child open your eyes I gave u wisdom honestly can water heal you? That was the last tym I entertained the water..I even stopped watching emmanuel tv..and made up my mind to focus directly on Jesus the author and finisher of my faith. He is my only way to God..no prophet,pastor and In so in love with Elohim.

This is heresy of the first grade. For those who have been following the conversation on this site you will realize that I once asked somebody to tell me the meaning of “anointed water for salvation” I personally wrote to the Scoan to get an explanation and biblical base but no reply till date. Now it is coming to the open. The anointed water for salvation has now been transformed or metaphors into “the blood of Jesus”. Very soon it will be “the precious blood of Jesus”. Those who are very fanatical about TB Joshua and who thinks that what TB Joshua watch is doing is nonsense or just being bias or judgmental should take note that it is the responsibility of every born again child of God to defend the faith. In the days of the apostles, they defended the faith when false teachings came into the church. Stop being fanatical and allow God to open your eyes to see from the scriptures what the bible says about what you see and believe. Many are now worshiping TB Joshua. His pictures are in the houses, cars and business places of many people. They see him as a god. They use his so called anointed stickers and anointed water as medium for protection, breakthrough, prosperity etc. Just of recent one of his followers was singing a song and giving glory to the wisemen. He sang that “he touched me, the wiseman touched me…..” Is it Jesus that touches us or the wisemen? God Himself has assured us of His protection is Isaiah 43:1-3. He promised to be with us. Several passages of the scripture assures us of God’s protection and healing if only we believe in Him. Now many pastors are copying from TB Joshua, they use anointed water, anointed aprons, anointed oil, etc as medium for healing. They have made many to now put their trust in these things instead of putting their trusts in God alone. They also enriched themselves with through this means. God will bring everything into judgment. Salvation is found in no one else only the name of Jesus Acts 4:12, Jesus is the only way to God John 14:6 not anointed water. Though they call on people to accept Jesus Christ, but their practice does not demonstrate what they say. This is the type of righteousness of the scribes and pharisees who said things but never did it. Nobody is being biased or judgmental here, we are only pointing out the trust and creating awareness so that when the time comes you will not say “Had I known” You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free. John 8:32.
The scriptural basis given by the Scoan for their practice is not valid. It was never a prescription. God used them once and for a particular purpose. When reading and interpreting scriptures, it should be done based on the context, cultural and historical background. The apostles never used any of those mediums again throughout their ministry.

I live in Ghana, those who died in the stampede were desperate in life. Life is difficult because of the politics of the day. But on the off chance that you are at least partly rational, I want to point out to you that your ranting is no different than that of other TBJ supporters, and it’s very telling in a few of its aspects.
You all are obsessed with “jealousy”. “Do greater than him! Deliver him! Get more people than him! Have more money than him!”
THAT IS NOT THE POINT. To me it very clearly points to how deeply corruption is worked into SCOAN believers, that their entire focus is power and numbers and money. Whoever can put on the best show is who you will make your master, it seems.
The people who question TBJ are not interested in being a filthy rich spiritual circus ringleader. Their refusal to play to your tune in that regard is, in fact, a sign of Christian character. They are doing exactly what the Bible says to do, which is to speak the truth. From my observation they are managing to maintain a loving attitude in spite of all the abuse heaped on them constantly from people like you. Several have stated that they already have attempted to address their issues with TBJ personally. I’m sure you know that was not recieved.
So they have put up a warning sign. The wise will heed it. And there is nothing unBiblical in that. There is no need for those shouting the warning to go and deliver TBJ. God may call some one in particular to do that, some day. Or he may let TBJ fall into the pit he’s digging for himself. That’s for God to sort out. You are a human being. You don’t have the authority to command or demand such a thing.
The other thing I have noticed about SCOAN posters is their language. Every bitter and vile thing pours out of your mind and into your posts. You demonstrate no respect or love for the people you disagree with. I have seen SCOAN defenders throw curses, call down death on people, and lie insistently and constantly about the person they are disagreeing with, even when the lie is so obvious it becomes kind of funny. You somehow manage to translate maniacal derisive laughter into writing which I admit is quite a feat.
All of this behavior is flatly anti-Scriptural. If you cannot discuss the issues at hand without cursing, name-calling, and despising your opponent, than you must know that you are seriously in disobedience to the Word of God. That is a dangerous position to be in when you are claiming spiritual superiority.

Go read the whole of Revelation chapter 2 you will realise that it’s actually unbiblical to be silent when unscriptural activities / behaviour / practices enter the church (christian community)
What do you understand by that statement? When Jesus was on earth he fought against the Pharisees and Scribes who brought about false interpretation of the law. When the apostles were carrying on with their ministries, they persistently fought against false teachings in the church. Were they judging? It is the responsibility of Christians to point out false teachings and show the right one. Tell where in scripture one can receive salvation of the soul by spraying “anointed water”. In Acts 4:12, we are made to understand that only Jesus gives salvation not water or any other thing. Tell me as a child of God would you seat quietly and let people be deceived of this false teachings because you don’t want to be judged? instead God will hold you responsible for compromising the truth. James 4:17 says if you know what is right and you don’t do it to God it is sin.

Anyone who is suprised at the attack at the man of God TB Joshua, is just making a fool of his or herself. How on earth can you expect the devil to stay and see his kingdom being devoured by a highly anointed man of God TJ Joshua. The devil and his cohorts must also work hard to derail the week in faith. However, the satan is a defeated fool and his cohorts are not different. The one thing we should note about the devil is that he is persitent but never succeeds againts children of God. Their attacks on the man of God makes Gods power to be manefested through him.
